Meet Dr. Paula Sinnott, a highly esteemed Specialist and Consultant Orthodontist in Dublin. With a career marked by dedication and excellence, Dr. Sinnott has established herself as a leading orthodontist, renowned for her expertise in managing patients requiring all types of orthodontic needs.
After graduating with an Honours degree in Dentistry from Cork University Dental Hospital in 2014, Dr. Sinnott gained invaluable experience in a busy general dental practice before advancing to a Senior House Officer role in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Her passion for Orthodontics led her to the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in London, where she completed a full time 3-year Specialist Orthodontist training program.
During her training, Dr. Sinnott earned a Master’s degree in Orthodontics with distinction from University College London and achieved Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and London. Her dedication to the field was further demonstrated when she secured a coveted position in the national Consultant Orthodontist training program at the University of Bristol Dental Hospital, culminating in a Fellowship in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons.
As a Consultant Orthodontist in Dublin, Dr. Sinnott is highly skilled in treating complex bite issues, including those requiring combined Surgical and Restorative care. She is also actively involved in teaching and training future Orthodontists and Dentists affiliated with Trinity College Dublin.
Dr. Sinnott ’s commitment to delivering outstanding orthodontic care has earned her numerous accolades from the European, Irish and British Orthodontic Societies, including the Professor W.J.B. Houston Award, the S.P. Jones Award, and the Best Clinical Effectiveness Award. These awards are a testament to her dedication to the field of orthodontics and her pursuit of clinical excellence.
Dr. Sinnott is registered with the Irish Dental Council and holds memberships in the Irish, and European Orthodontic Societies, ensuring that she remains at the forefront of advancements in orthodontic care. She has also completed a Fellowship in Aligner Therapy.
Niamh brings the best of both worlds with her experience in orthodontics and paediatrics — meaning she can handle busy clinics with ease and keep even the smallest patients smiling (no small feat!). She’s a pro at turning nerves into laughs and has a talent for making visits feel a lot less “dentist” and a lot more relaxed.
Friendly, calm, and always up for a chat, Niamh keeps things running smoothly while making sure every patient leaves in a better mood than they arrived — which is kind of her superpower.
Outside of the clinic, Niamh is rarely still. If there’s fresh air involved, she’s in — from swimming and hiking to anything that gets her outdoors and moving.
Mercy is one of our dedicated dental nurses here at Sinnott Orthodontics. With over ten years of experience in dentistry, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Having graduated from Trinity College Dublin as a dental nurse in 2017, Mercy went on to complete her Bachelor’s in Oral Health Promotion with Practice Management, achieving a distinction. She has also undertaken further courses in Digital Healthcare and Leadership Change.
Mercy is known for her warm and personable nature, always doing her best to ensure patients feel comfortable and at ease during their visits. She has a particular talent for helping younger patients feel relaxed and confident, making their orthodontic experience as positive as possible.
Her love of learning has led to her current enrolment in a Master of Business Administration, where she hopes to bring even more knowledge and expertise to her role. Outside of Sinnott Orthodontics and her studies, Mercy enjoys visiting historic sites and reading, and is an avid fan of authors such as C.S. Lewis, John Bunyan, and Henry Francis Lyte.
Meet Carla – our longest-serving nurse and one of the biggest personalities in the practice! Always bubbly, always up for a laugh… but don’t expect any sympathy if you’ve “forgotten” your aligners again 😅.
Carla is an absolute pro at keeping both patients and the team on track, with years of experience and a real passion for what she does. She’s known for her attention to detail and for making even the most nervous patients feel completely at ease.
When she’s not in the practice, Carla loves her holidays, a good catch-up with friends, and spending time with her doggies 🐶💛
